1. Parents may sign up at commitment day to volunteer to be a team rep.
2. One or two reps are selected for each team.
3. Team reps vary each season. We will select new reps each season unless new team reps do not apply.
4. In the event that several parents apply, the team reps will be randomly selected to maintain a fair process.
5. Team reps are encouraged to work together so the position does not become a burden to any particular rep.
1. Background checks must be completed at Clearchecks.com and are paid by the rep. These should be submitted to Gretchen no later than June 30th.
One team rep will be selected for each competition to assist the coaches with their team in the warm up area. Team reps are responsible for the following:
1. Taking attendance at competition as athletes arrive
2. Helping parents who are running late or lost finding the venue and/or struggling with hair/make up
3. Setting the gathering spot and ensuring athletes/parents know where to pick their athletes up after the kids compete
4. Ensuring all Tiny, Mini and Youth athletes are released ONLY to their parents or a designated guardian
5. Gathering athletes for awards and ensuring they are released to a parent afterwards
6. Collecting and passing out athlete participation gifts, jackets or any other awards
7. Hold items for athletes such as jewelry, inhalers, KT tape, water, etc.
8. Team reps will be given a small tote bag to hold participant gifts. Each bag will have a clipboard with a team roster, a pen and a highlighter.
1. Fixing or putting in scrunchies between mats or prior to taking the stage
2. Taking pictures for the team page
3. Tying shoes
4. Watching/carrying water bottles
5. Taking athletes to the bathroom
6. General coaches’ support as requested
7. Please ensure none of these tasks are a distraction to the team or take away from our warm up time
1. 1-2 events throughout the summer
2. 3-4 throughout the school year. Examples: team movie, bowling, park, dinner, etc.
3. Athletes are expected to pay their own way. Please keep cost in mind when planning events.
4. Please ensure ALL parents have been notified equally of these events and are given at least two weeks notice.
5. Team reps are not responsible for hosting these events or paying for anyone outside their own child.
6. Holiday parties: These should be scheduled and released to teams 45 days prior and the front desk should be notified. Parents are welcome to host holiday parties at the gym based on party slot availability. Please offer for other parents to help with snacks, games, crafts or any other activities to involve as many people as possible. One holiday party should take place between October and January and can celebrate Halloween, Friendsgiving, Christmas and/or New Years.
7. Don’t stress if the whole team can’t make any of these events. Your job is to coordinate them, but we do not expect you to work around everyone’s schedules.
This may look like:
Act as a mentor & guide them through the cheer season
Be a go-to person to help on competition day
Be a “team player” with all other teams and programs as much as possible
1. Handling problems among/between parents and athletes.
2. Representing any other parents’ concerns. (We believe it’s important for parents to address any concerns individually so we can take care of each person’s individual needs.)
3. This should be a rewarding experience and not a burden. Drama is not part of our core culture at AKGHC, and it should never be your problem to deal with.
Compensation
1. The smile on your child’s face 🙂
2. In the event that AKGHC does not need all coaches’ passes for a competition, the team rep(s) selected for that event will receive a free pass into the event.
3. These bands are provided by the event producer and are never guaranteed.
4. Team reps will be given a $25 gift card at the end of the season as a “thank you” for your support. Please note, this is a small item, but our appreciation is huge!
Volunteer position
1. This is 100% a volunteer position and at no time is a team rep obligated to maintain this position.
2. This is designed to build morale and add value to the culture of our program.
3. We understand jobs and personal obligations change throughout the season. We NEVER want you to get burned out. If you feel that happening, please reach out to Gretchen so she can provide an alternative rep for the remainder of the season or for a sabbatical.
4. Team reps are expected to follow all rules and encourage others to do the same. Reps who engage in activities within the gym that do not support the values of the gym will be asked to step down.
5. For questions or concerns, please reach out to gretchen@akghc.com.
